Australian Tour and Home!

Hi Everyone!

Again it's been a long time!
It's been mental since the end of our U.S. Tour! It was an awesome night in red Rocks Colorado which marked the end of our tour in the U.S. The audience were incredible and of course the venue is unsurpassed by anywhere in my book!

We had a short time at home which was spend relaxing a bit, and catching up on unopened post, things that had been put on the long finger, and family and friends.

Then it was off to Australia for our first tour there as Celtic Woman.
It was amazing! We started off in Newcastle rehearsing and had our first show there. Every show in every city rocked and the Australian Girls Choir certainly helped that to happen! It is also an honor for us to be Ambassadors for National Breast Cancer Foundation and we wear our pink ribbons and t-shirts proudly in support of the research that they are doing.
There are lots of pics and info on
We were constantly tweeting so check those out on twitter too! There's a direct link on my website
There was a day off in Brisbane and it was great! We went to the Lone Pine Sanctuary and got to be near very beautiful and exotics creatures. I have some pics up on twitter of my chance to hold a koala, a snake and a raptor ( not all at the same time, ha!) and it was deadly altogether!
The next day was the show in Brisbane and as if all the other cities didn't rock hugely, Brisbane was not to be outdone. It was an incredible last show and the audience really made it happen for us. What a night!

Then it was on the plane the next day for the first of three flights home!
Home now, and I get to relax with family and friends, do the things that have been on the long finger! and I suppose I'll open my post too!
Thank you to all the lovely people we met, to those who came to our shows and supported us so well and gave us such a huge welcome.

Thank you to our marvelous management and crew who did an awesome job!

And lastly, a huge thanks to a great friend and colleague, Des Moore, who has been with us from the beginning. His last show with us was Brisbane. He is an incredible musician. I've never come across anyone who is such a calm, sensitive, musical, virtuoso.
His playing is always perfection and I will miss him on stage and as a friend off stage. I grew up working and listening to Des featuring in the Concert Orchestra from when I was 15 years old. I've learned a huge amount from him as a player and a person. I will continue to do so. So, thanks Des and I will come to see you in concert soon!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Holidays and an amazing rest of the year.
See you in the New Year!

Le grá,

  1. Thanks for checking in, Máiréad. Lisa is reporting some heavy duty jet lag in her family, so I'm sure everyone has been affected. All the reports in the forum would indicate that the shows were smashing and the Meet & Greets were exceptional. Hope you're able to chill out some and catch up on all those things "on the long finger." Looking forward to the release of Lullaby and seeing you all in the Springtime.
Wishing all the best to Des, who will surely be missed. Enjoy a well earned rest.

  2. Dear Máiréad,

Thank you for the wonderful performances and the kind interactions on stage and at the meetings after in Australia. It was a long overdue and much appreciated tour for the folks down under. The Grittens had a delightful time in Sydney and Livvy was most happy to finally meet you and the others.

I eagerly anticipate "Lullaby" and your work on it. Yes, Des will be very much missed. His intro to you for Last Rose Fantasia is just marvelous and sets the tone for that air perfectly. simply a breathless number all the way through.

Have a wonderful, restful, break as you reflect back on 2010 and look forward to what comes in 2011. You've earned this time to say the least.

    Love and blessings, Scott

  3. Máiréad,

Thank you for the prompt post on your return! Great to hear that you all made it home safely! Enjoy your rest knowing that your fans eagerly await your return in the Spring! We'll of course extend holiday wishes to you elsewhere too!

It's with great sadness that we learn of Des Moore's departure from Celtic Woman! I've been right at his feet at many shows and will miss him tremendously! The best to him in all his future endeavors! I don't envy David in the least in finding a replacement for him! He'll not be replaced in our hearts.

  4. Thanks for the wonderful update. Its always nice to hear that you are home safe and sound. Hope you can get some most deserved rest and family time before the next tour.

  5. Dear Máiréad,

Lovely to hear from you once more! So thrilled the first tour in Australia was awesome for all of you! And getting to hold a Koala, awesome!! It is with sadness I hear that Des is leaving Celtic Woman. He will most definitely be missed. I wish him the best for what he does next though. Have a wonderful, restful, and relaxing holiday season, and I look forward to seeing you back in the U.S. for your next tour in 2011!!

    Much Love,

  6. Wish I could have been there to see you in Australia, but it just didn't work for me. However, you had plenty of support from your forum both in person and in spirit. All reports are that the shows were amazing and you met some great new (and familiar) people at the Meet & Greets. Thanks for the pictures from Lone Pine; they are absolutely wonderful. Thanks, too, to you and the girls for the video postcards from down under. I hope you take advantage of the time off to relax and enjoy life with family and friends at home. Have a wonderful holiday season and I'll see you in the Spring.
